Bob Prince

Bob Prince CD Cover

Bob Prince, The Gunner, was one of the all time great baseball broadcasters. A Hall of Famer, he was a Pittsburgh Pirates announcer from 1948 to 1975.

In baseball vernacular, Bob could do it all. He had a distinctive voice, a deep love of the game, and was gifted with both a clever command of the language and a delightful sense of humor.

And Bob Prince lived and died with his beloved Buccos.

I have searched far and wide, and I think you will love hearing some of the old radio clips of "The Gunner." Track 4 is titled "9-22-75," and it is unlike any other track we have ever produced. Amazingly, all of the audio cuts on Track 4 occurred in just one Bob Prince broadcast. It's a great sample of him, displaying several different sides of the man - descriptive and dramatic play-calling, enthusiasm, eccentricity, hilarity, and his pure love of the Pirates.

There are also tracks devoted to legendary ballplayers such as Roberto Clemente and Bill Mazeroski. While Prince did not call Maz's historic 1960 homerun, you'll enjoy the story of Bob's role that day.

Other tracks focus on memorable events like the 1959 Harvey Haddix pitching gem, the Dock Ellis 1970 no-hitter, and the Bucs' 1971 postseason glory.

There has never been another announcer quite like Bob Prince, "The Gunner."

If you love him, I guarantee you will love this CD.
